Can I refinish the face on my kitchen cabinet doors?
These are cabinets that look as if they came from a chain store--I was wondering if I could do this--or should I just paint them?
Answer: It depends on what they are made out of. If they are solid wood you could certainly sand them down and restain them or give them a new coat of paint.
If they are laminate then you might be able to refinish them but not as easily. Check your local home improvement store for finishes that go over laminate.
If you have the money you could have them professionally refaced. If you don't have the money or want to do it yourself be prepared for a big project!
There are a lot of things you can do to make your cabinets look better such as putting on new knobs or adding moldings or appliques. It all depends on the look you are going for.
