How do I straighten cabinet doors adjusting hinges? A handy man did one in about 30 seconds and charged me 30.

A handy man did one in about 30 seconds and charged me 30.00. Most of my plain old style cabinets doors are just a little off. Thank you

Answer:
On most hinges, the pre-drilled hole where the screw fastens the hinge to the wood is an oblong shape- this allows you to slide the hinge up or down to make minor adjustments.

Using a screwdriver (either flathead or phillips, depending on the screws) loosen the screws slightly on both hinges either where they attach the door or the cabinet, but not both. A turn or two with the screwdriver should be sufficient. You don't want to remove the screws, just give them enough space to be able to slide the hinge. Having another person there with a level would be helpful- holding the level along the top edge of the door. If that isn't an option, just eyeball it- you may have to go back and try again if it is still crooked.
Make your adjustments and retighten the screws.

Good luck :)
